The end of another year approaches, and for many small business owners, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the highs and lows. Taking time to PAUSE might feel unreachable as you switch between your business and festive hats.
That’s why the Socially Shared team loves kicking off a new year with the annual PAUSE event, giving business owners the time and space to work on their personal development. When you feel refreshed, empowered, and aligned, then you’ll be ready and raring to go on a professional level.
We caught up with the hosts of PAUSE to find out why they love running and sponsoring this event.

Q: Why do you feel an event like PAUSE is so essential for women in business?
Lisa Cressy – As women in business, we take on so much and often prioritise everyone else above our own needs. This event allows women to stop DOING and to reconnect with themselves.
PAUSE is a reset – we can pause, take a breath, reset and then step back into our work and our lives feeling energised and empowered. When we take the time to nourish ourselves, everything improves. We need to look after ourselves first for our businesses to thrive!
This day also gives women insights, approaches, and tools they otherwise wouldn’t have thought of, so not only do they get to try some new experiences, but they’ll also have more tools to support their wellbeing (and their business) throughout the year.
Q: What message would you share with women who might feel nervous or unsure about attending?
Jenny McDonald – Most of us are far more comfortable holding everything together than we are letting ourselves unravel, even gently, but here’s the truth: PAUSE isn’t about performing, fixing, or impressing anyone. It’s a space designed for you, exactly as you are.
If you’re feeling the pull but also the wobble, that usually means you’re on the edge of something powerful. Sometimes the moments that feel the scariest are the ones that create the biggest breakthroughs. Come as you are, even if you come with butterflies. We’ll hold the space, and the butterflies tend to calm down once they realise they’re not the only ones in the room!
Q: What excites you most about being involved in this event?
Lisa Cressy – I know these types of events can be quite life-changing, and that is so exciting.
I love to see women try something new, whether it’s a sound bath, HeartMath meditation, breathwork, mindset tools, or simply letting themselves switch off for a while. I know the ripple effect that follows when they go home to their families, friends, and businesses, and they are calmer, more energised, and inspired!
Being part of an event that blends so many powerful practices and insights feels like such a privilege.

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to women ready to take control of their wellbeing in 2026, what would it be?
Jenny McDonald – Stop waiting for the “perfect” time; start with the smallest possible step today.
Wellbeing isn’t a grand gesture; it’s a thousand tiny decisions to choose yourself, again and again. When your energy is aligned, everything else becomes easier—your business, your relationships, your boundaries, your joy. So, take the step. Book the thing. Ask for the support. Your future self is already cheering.
