As women in business, you achieve remarkable things, break down barriers, and create thriving businesses. Too often, however, professional growth pushes your personal development and self-care to the bottom of the to-do list.
It’s more important than ever to prioritise your personal wellbeing. Nurturing yourself holistically allows you to thrive both personally and professionally.
The significance of personal development
Investing in your personal development is not a luxury or something to add to your future goals list. For sustained success, it’s essential that you boost your skillset, build resilience, and enhance your self-awareness to be able to work through any challenges you encounter on your business or personal journey, but why?
Work-life balance – although finding a true balance might not exist, thanks to the highs and lows and natural rhythm of life, you can help yourself by setting boundaries. For example, have you set your working days/times? Do you stick to these? Are your working hours clearly displayed on your website or social media pages?
Managing your time effectively is a wonderful way to maintain a healthy balance between your work and personal life. Where else can you set positive boundaries?
Confidence – focusing on your development means you begin to grow personally, which positively influences your confidence levels, decision-making, and risk-taking abilities. When you feel more confident you might say yes to an opportunity that pushes you out of your comfort zone and yet feeds your personal growth.
Learning – one of the USPs of our Socially Shared monthly networking events is the learning opportunity we offer. Our expert speakers deliver a short workshop on a wide variety of topics, from personal to professional development. Continuous learning keeps you adaptable and open to new ideas and helps you maintain a growth mindset.
Incorporating self-care into your daily routine
Self-care is the cornerstone of personal development. Many of our members are experts in this industry and actively share their advice to help women in business integrate self-care and wellbeing into their lives. Here are a few of their favourite tips:
- Physical health – incorporating nutritious meals, more water, and activity into your day will nourish your body, mind, and soul. When you feel strong and healthy on the outside this shines through from the inside.
- Morning routines – starting your day with a simple meditation, breathing exercises, or journaling sets a positive intention for your day ahead.
- Take a break – it’s far too easy to sit at your desk and not incorporate breaks into your day, and yet short breaks help you to recharge. Try a quick walk, a mindful cup of tea, doing a reflection exercise, or doing deep breathing exercises.
It’s also worth unplugging from work, your phones, and other obligations when necessary. Gift yourself the time to unwind and relax.
- Boundaries – ‘No’ is a complete sentence. Learning to say no and setting healthy boundaries helps you to preserve time for self-care and personal development without the risk of overcommitting.
Just About You
Attending an event for women in business that focuses on personal development creates an atmosphere of empowerment, inspiration, and motivation. That’s what the JUST ABOUT YOU day is all about.
Connect with like-minded individuals and hear success stories that will empower and motivate you to reach new heights this year. Our keynote speakers provide insights and inspiration that will ignite fresh ideas for you in life and business.
SPEAKER 1: Award-winning, best-selling author Jenny McDonald will be sharing an introduction to energy alignment and how to release blocks and beliefs using energy kinesiology. Plus, a daily alignment practice so you can align to the life you want in 2024.
SPEAKER 2: Founder of The Oracle Club, Beth Taylor will be helping us to define what intuition is and how we can explore it. Tapping into your intuition can be both insightful and a great guide in life.
Building relationships via networking at these events can open doors to new opportunities and exciting collaborations. Being in an encouraging environment drives you to dream big and pursue your goals.
To help with your goal setting, there are two super workshops running on the afternoon session of our Just About You day. You get to choose which one resonates with you.
WORKSHOP 1: Vision Board Workshop
Give yourself the gift of time to create your vision board for 2024 and beyond with Shelley Wilson, a self-help author and writing mentor.
A vision board is a visual representation of the things you want to be, do, or have in your life. Your personal vision is only limited by the extent of your own creativity. Produce your very own board in this fun and social workshop, and then see how you can manifest your dreams into reality.
WORKSHOP 2: Life Goal Mapping
Executive Coach and NLP Practitioner, Taruna Chauhan will guide you to create your own life goal map. A blend of visual and written goal mapping techniques for you to navigate yourself to achieving your goals.

“By far the best networking group I’ve been to. Expertly organised, incredibly friendly group with genuine support and the leaders are very well connected in the local business world with heaps of experience. Socially Shared is totally different from other networking groups I’ve attended; its whole ethos centres around LEARNING while networking and each session has a themed business topic like ‘knowing your customer’ ‘blog writing’ ‘time management’ etc. which are really useful with a handy worksheet with all the tips to take away.” – Stephanie Rix, Life’s Work Consulting
