With Christmas on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about the gifts you want to buy (and receive). Here at Socially Shared, we want to shop local and support the fabulous array of businesses in our community.

To kick off our shopping list, we’re going to turn to the Socially Shared Bookshop for inspiration. If you haven’t already browsed the selection of books available, then pop over and take a look. There’s something to suit every reading taste.

With such an abundant array of titles on our bookshop, we’ll be introducing our local authors and their books (listed in alphabetical order) over the next few months.

Here is the first of our talented authors:

In addition to running the business, she has experience in creating a people development strategy that delivers on your business strategy and designing leadership development programmes. With significant operational expertise in change management, Angela enjoys working with fast-growth companies or those targeting culture/behaviour change. As a facilitator, Angela brings ‘high support, high challenge’ and creates a safe and exploratory space that compels people to step up to the next level of performance. Outside of work Angela loves to dance (blues and tango), travel off the beaten track and make a difference where she can.

About three years ago, their lives were turned upside down when told that Robert had a brain tumour. We all know how things come out of nowhere and blindside us, well this is one of those things. The book is a genuine and honest account of how it’s affected the couple, warts and all, but also how our faith has carried us through the most difficult of times.

Christine Ingall, author of Solo Success. After unexpectedly living alone for 30 years, Christine realised she knew a lot about how to make sure it didn’t blight her life. She wrote a self-help guide. “Solo Success! You CAN do things on your own”, published in 2017, and used her experience to help people to get rid of the fear of being visibly alone in a couple-centric society so that they can gain the confidence to go out and do things on their own

Harriett Cummings, author of We All Begin as Strangers, and The Last of Us. Harriet is a novelist with a background in the history of art and gender studies. As a scriptwriter, she’s had work performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as well as independent venues around London. While studying at Faber Academy, Harriet threw herself into her first novel and hasn’t looked back since. She has recently published her second novel – another dark drama called The Last of Us. She reclaimed her energy, vitality and failing health from a debilitating autoimmune disorder by making delicious food and simple lifestyle changes. When she turned back the clock on her disease and the ageing process, she felt so well that she developed the IzabellaNatrins.Com website and her Femergy@40 Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaching Programmes to help other women do the same. In Once Upon a Cook – Food Wisdom, Better Living, you’ll discover truths about food that will make you want to change the way you eat, reclaim your kitchen and take back your health.
