A colourful and inspiring collection of drawings, I Got Locked Down but I Picked Up a Pen will take you through the ups and downs of the Coronavirus pandemic through the eyes of an illustrator.
This beautiful ‘coffee table book’ makes a great gift for art lovers or anyone with an appreciation of illustration and lettering. With hand-drawn images and thought-provoking phrases, you’ll smile with recognition at the absurdities of lockdown life and be reminded of our collective resilience during a very trying year. A unique visual keepsake of the pandemic.
I draw a lot in my spare time, and during the pandemic it became a way for me to cope with the cabin fever and uncertainty of lockdown life. I posted the drawings on Instagram and it was amazing to see how many people related to then. The more I shared about my own emotional rollercoaster, the more people got in touch to say they were feeling the same way. When the coronavirus restrictions started to ease in April, I realised I had accumulated quite a pile of drawings! I decided they needed to be collated as a way of marking what an extraordinary time we had all just been through.
