There’s something about spring that invites a fresh start, but while you’re busy decluttering cupboards and reorganising your home, how often do you give the same attention to yourself? For women in business, especially those juggling clients, content creation, family, and everything in between, a personal spring clean is essential. In this article, we look at how to care for your mind, body, and spirit.

- Support your body with simple habits: hydrate, move daily, eat well, and prioritise sleep
- Reconnect with your spirit by revisiting your why, scheduling joy, and celebrating small wins
- Protect your energy by noticing what drains or fuels you
- Small, consistent shifts create powerful long-term change
- Your wellbeing is the foundation of your business success
- Quick reset: write it out, drink water, get fresh air, do one joyful thing
Self-care isn’t about adding more to your to-do list. You’re already busy being a business owner, so thinking about adding more to your schedule can feel overwhelming. Let’s reframe self-care as creating space, clarity, and calm so you can show up as your best self – in your business and your life.
These are the topics we cover at our annual PAUSE events, which are a super day out dedicated to looking after your own needs. Here are a few of the messages that our team shares regularly.
Mind: Clear the Mental Clutter
When your mind is overloaded, everything feels heavier. Decisions take longer, creativity dips, and even simple tasks can feel overwhelming. Here are a few simple steps you can take:
- Brain dump your thoughts onto paper. Grab a notebook and write down everything that’s on your mind. That might include your tasks, worries, and ideas. Don’t filter the list. Getting it out of your head creates instant space.
- Set focus themes for your week by giving each day a purpose (e.g. Monday is admin day, Tuesday is content creation day, etc). It reduces decision fatigue and helps you stay on track.
- Limit information overload. This is something many of our Socially Shared members have been talking about lately. The online space is so noisy that it’s creating resistance, which affects your business’s visibility. Unfollow accounts that make you feel behind and choose inspiration over comparison. Ask yourself, ‘Am I consuming or creating?’
- Create a 10-minute reset ritual. Step away from your desk, make a cup of tea, breathe, and stretch. It sounds simple, but it works.
Body: Reconnect with Your Energy
Think of your body as your business partner! If it’s running on empty, everything else will feel harder. Here are a few techniques to try:
- Hydration check. Keep a water bottle on your desk and drink it (yes, all of it!).
- Move daily (without overthinking it). This doesn’t need to be a full workout. A walk around the block, stretching between calls, or a quick dance in the kitchen counts.
- Upgrade one habit at a time. Instead of overhauling your entire routine, pick one thing, like eating a proper lunch away from your desk, and build from there.
- Sleep like it matters (because it does). Set a consistent wind-down time. Your future self will thank you.
Spirit: Reignite What Lights You Up
This is the bit that often gets overlooked, but it’s where your motivation, creativity, and joy live. When your spirit feels good, then your business benefits. Here are a few things you could try today:
- Reconnect with your why. Why did you start your business? What excites you about it now? Write it down and keep it visible so you can check in with yourself regularly.
- Schedule joy (yes, you can actually schedule it). Coffee with a friend, reading a book, or a solo walk around the park. Add it to your diary like you would a client call.
- Celebrate small wins and not just the big milestones. The email you sent, the post you published, the boundary you held. They all count as wins!
- Protect your energy. Notice what or who drains you and what or who fuels you, and adjust where you can.
This is your gentle reminder that you don’t need a complete life overhaul to feel better. Those small, intentional shifts create powerful change over time, and your body, mind, and spirit will thank you. Don’t think of your wellbeing as something separate from your business; think of it as the foundation of it.
Alongside the fresh starts and clean spaces, give yourself permission to reset, refocus, and recharge this spring, because when you feel good, everything begins to flow more smoothly.
Your Spring Reset (Quick Start)
If you’re short on time, start here:
- Write down everything on your mind (5 minutes)
- Drink a full glass of water
- Step outside for fresh air
- Do one thing that brings you joy today
