As the Socially Shared network grows, our Area Hosts are finding more and more women in business joining the monthly sessions who are authors and avid readers.

Our Meet the Author event, held annually in October, attracts authors from across the region to share their books, network with other authors, and meet and greet readers who are looking for their next favourite book.

With a growing number of female authors in the network, it felt right to offer a supportive platform for these ladies to gain more visibility for their books and engage with a new audience.

In May 2018, we launched our Online Bookshop, which has been a great success.

This service is free of charge to any female author within the Socially Shared region. Currently, we have over 120  books listed in various genres, from business and children to fiction and journals. If you are a local female author and would like to have your book featured on our online bookshop please drop us an email at info@sociallyshared.co.uk

Here at Socially Shared, we understand the value and positive energy of in-person events, which is why we launched the Meet the Author Live event back in 2021. However, we also appreciate the investment and significance of time management. To that end, we are launching a variety of in-person and virtual events to suit everyone.

Here’s a quick summary of what’s coming up and dates to add to your calendar. Keep an eye out on the events page for ticket information.

Meet the Author Social (April)

Our first book related event of the year is our Meet the Author Social on Saturday 27th April at St Francis of Assisi Church Hall in Kenilworth.

One of the biggest takeaways from our main author event was the chance to meet other authors. Writing can be such a lonely vocation that having the opportunity to talk about writing, publishing, and the many highs and lows of marketing was something our exhibiting authors wanted more of.

You asked, and we listened!

The Meet the Author Social is for authors and prospective authors to meet, network, and learn something from our industry guest speakers.

The day kicks off at 10am with networking and refreshments (for a small charge).

At 10.30am, we have our first guest speaker, Sian Smith from Sian Smith Editorial, talking about preparing your manuscript in the best way possible for your editor – using Word – collating your references, sorting out your timeline, doing your research on where your book sits, and familiarising yourself with the editing process.

Sian’s talk is followed by more networking before our second speaker at 12pm who will be confirmed shortly.

The event closes at 1pm.

We hope the Meet the Author Social will tick the box for all female authors in the region to connect, collaborate, and come together over a love of writing and books.

Meet the Author Online (May)

Not wanting to leave our lovely readers out, we are excited to launch our Meet the Author Online events, with the first one on Monday 13th May, via Zoom between 7pm – 8pm.

These online events will highlight two authors every other month, covering fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, business titles, and more. It’s a chance for readers to discover new authors and books and for attendees to ask questions and be in with a chance of winning signed copies.

Our first online event features bestselling author of heartwarming, feel good fiction, Kim Nash, who will be talking about her new release, Making Memories at the Cornish Cove. Joining Kim is bestselling non-fiction author Shelley Wilson, who will be celebrating the ten-year anniversary of her first non-fiction title, How I Changed My Life in a Year.

Questions are encouraged and can be submitted ahead of the event. The format is an informal chat with our featured authors and a chance to ask those burning questions about heroes, plot twists, inspiration, and favourite stationery items!
